Former Wiggin and Dana Attorney Confirmed to the Federal Bench by the U.S. Senate

11.20.2014
New Haven – Former Wiggin and Dana Counsel Victor Allen Bolden, corporation counsel for the City of New Haven, was confirmed to the Federal Bench by the U.S. Senate today.

Judge Bolden worked at Wiggin and Dana from 2000 to 2005, where he handled a wide range of commercial litigation matters and served as Counsel in the firm's Appellate Practice Group. He is the third member of Wiggin and Dana's Appellate Practice Group to become a federal judge in the last dozen years, following in the footsteps of Judge Jesse Furman (S.D.N.Y.) and the late Judge Mark Kravitz (D.Conn.). After leaving Wiggin and Dana, Judge Bolden served as general counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund Inc., after which he became corporation counsel for the City of New Haven.

"Judge Bolden is a first-rate lawyer, and we are proud to count him among our alumni here at Wiggin and Dana," comments Bob Benjamin, Chair of the firm's Executive Committee. "He will make a wonderful judge, and we wish him all the best as he takes on this major responsibility."

Before joining Wiggin and Dana, Judge Bolden worked at the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation and in an earlier position with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. He earned his law degree in 1989 from Harvard Law School and his bachelor's degree in 1986 from Columbia University.
