Wiggin and Dana lawyers are active in a wide variety of political, bar association and community activities. Associates and partners serve as officers and directors of, and provide counsel to, a large number of nonprofit public service organizations, including the Ronald McDonald House of Southern Connecticut, St. Luke's Life Works, the Anti-Defamation League, the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, the Fairfield Jewish Home for the Aged, the New Haven Jewish Home for the Aged, Law Works for People, and Sigma Xi, a scientific research society. Our lawyers are also involved in a variety of arts organizations, including the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, the Shubert Performing Arts Center, the Long Wharf Theatre, the Greater New Haven Arts Council and the Stamford Center for the Arts.
Wiggin and Dana's lawyers have often been recognized for their community involvement and pro bono activities. A Wiggin and Dana lawyer received the Charles J. Parker Legal Services Award from the Connecticut Bar Association for his work in assisting organizations that provide legal services to the poor. In addition, Wiggin and Dana attorneys have received such honors as the YMCA Community Leadership Award, the Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Award and a "Distinguished Service Award" for pro bono work awarded by Connecticut Anti-Defamation League. The main stage at New Haven's widely-acclaimed Long Wharf Theatre has been named the Charles Newton Schenck Stage in honor of our partner's distinguished service as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the theatre.
The firm's attorneys are active participants in numerous Bar and other Associations. Members of the firm have held the following positions: Chair of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) Multistate Antitrust Task Force; Chair of Eastern States Antitrust Committee; Chair of the Lawyer-to-Lawyer Arbitration Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association; Chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee; and Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association Intellectual Property Law Section. Wiggin and Dana lawyers serve on a wide array of federal and state committees, including the Advisory Committee to the Rules Committee of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Federal Bar Council's Planning Committee.
