Stamford – Wiggin and Dana is pleased to announce that Corporate Partner, Patti Melick, has been named a 2012 Volunteer of the Year by Pro Bono Partnership, Inc. for her strong and long standing commitment to pro bono matters. Patti was one of five volunteers to receive this recognition at the organization's annual Volunteers of the Year reception held on March 13, 2013 in New York City.
Patti has been an active volunteer with the Partnership for well over a decade, assisting on a wide variety of corporate, contract, finance and intellectual property matters for many Partnership clients.
"Patti has been a terrific volunteer for so many years," said Maurice Segall, Director of the Partnership's New York and Fairfield County, CT, Program. "She's consistently been a ‘go-to' person for so many projects, including challenging projects like dissolutions that would have otherwise been difficult to place. She is unfailingly terrific to work with!"
Pro bono clients have included the Connecticut Association for Children with Learning Disabilities, which provided services for learning disabled children and adults, their families and professionals; Inspirica, one of the largest providers of services to the homeless in Connecticut; CPEP, a nonprofit helping underrepresented students reach their full potential in science, technology, engineering and mathematics; and LINKS Connections for Independent Living, which has been providing services to enable senior citizens to live comfortably in their homes. Additionally, Patti has helped two nonprofits in mergers with other nonprofit organizations: the United Way of Coastal Fairfield County and Stamford CARES, a community-based AIDS organization.
Patti, a partner in the firm's Corporate Department, is also a member of the firm's Executive and Pro Bono Committees. She primarily represents companies in the life sciences industry, including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, diagnostic and medical device companies.
Patti graduated summa cum laude from Lehigh University, Phi Beta Kappa, and received her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
