Amy G. Drais

Biography

Amy is an Associate in the Taxation Practice Group of Wiggin and Dana’s Corporate Department in the Stamford office. Her responsibilities include general federal and international tax planning for the firm’s domestic and international clients, as well as advising on tax matters in connection with transactional practices, including investment funds, financing arrangements, mergers and acquisitions, entity formation, and low-income-housing and historic tax credits. Amy also advises tax-exempt organizations on certain federal and state tax matters.

Before joining Wiggin and Dana, Amy was a tax associate at Proskauer Rose LLP in New York and Boston, as well as a tax associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP in New York, where she advised clients on a broad range of domestic and international tax matters. Earlier in her career, Amy structured municipal bond offerings in the public finance departments of Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch.

Amy received her J.D. with a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, where she served as articles editor of The Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law and interned at the RFK Center for Human Rights and Human Rights First. She received her B.A. magna cum laude from Wellesley College.

Amy assists pro bono clients with certain tax matters, including application for federal tax exemption, and has helped individual pro bono clients obtain asylum in the United States. Amy is proficient in French.
