Jared Clark

Biography

Jared is an Associate in the Litigation Department, where he represents clients in civil, criminal, and regulatory matters. As a member of the International Trade Compliance and Sanctions Practice Group, Jared assists clients with matters involving U.S. export controls such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. anti-boycott laws, and U.S. trade sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Jared’s experience includes an extended secondment to a leading aerospace and defense contractor, where he gained valuable experience working in-house to conduct internal investigations, draft voluntary disclosures, and develop and implement policy enhancements. In addition, Jared has experience in assisting clients in civil litigation over commercial disputes, including briefing dispositive motions in both state and federal court.

Before joining Wiggin and Dana, Jared was a law clerk for the Hon. Jon C. Blue in the New Haven Superior Court and interned at the Offices of the District Attorney in San Francisco, Brooklyn, and Oakland. Before law school, Jared honed his organizational and managerial skills through positions as a White House Associate in the Office of Presidential Personnel for President Barack Obama, where he vetted presidential appointees prior to Senate confirmation hearings. Jared also served as Communications Director and speechwriter for a successful mayoral candidate in one major Connecticut municipality and as Campaign Manager for a successful Board of Alders candidate for another major Connecticut city.

Jared received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he was a research assistant for the Chancellor and Dean of the school and received the CALI Award for Excellence in Jurisprudence. He received his B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Hispanic Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. 

Jared was born and raised in New Haven and chairs the Pro Bono Committee for the New Haven County Bar Association. Jared is deeply committed to his community and is proficient in Spanish.
