From Antitrust Investigations to Consumer Protection Prosecutions: Using State Consumer Laws to Bring Antitrust Cases
Presented by the Consumer Protection Committee

The AGs in Connecticut, Illinois, and New York investigated insurance brokers and carriers for bid rigging and price-fixing in violation of state antitrust laws-actions ultimately claiming billions of dollars in restitution and civil penalties. Yet, many of the cases were driven by, and ultimately resolved under, state unfair/deceptive trade practice statutes. Thispanel will explore the transformation of antitrust cases and assess whether they represent an emerging trend.
