New Department of Labor regulations on the timing and content of COBRA notices take effect for plan years starting on or after November 26, 2004 (for calendar year plans, January 1, 2005). These regulations may require employers and plan administrators to retool their COBRA notices and develop new procedures. Careful planning is necessary to avoid the $110-per-day penalty that COBRA non-compliance can mean. Karen and Jennifer will discuss the regulations and there will be an ample question and answer period.
