What are the values, behaviors, and skills demonstrated by a trusted, effective manager? What are employees looking for in their work environment? How do managers go about meeting both organizational and employee expectations? What impact do employment and labor laws have on organizational policies? Is the responsibility of managing human resources an unavoidable problem to be dealt with, or an opportunity for personal, team, and organizational growth?

This program, designed for new or recently assigned managers, is designed to provide answers to these questions, help participants identify and respond effectively to the human resources and legal challenges they face, and provide practical information, skills, and techniques to help participants fulfill their role in effective human resources management. Subjects covered in this full-day program will include building a collaborative relationship with human resources staff, effective interviewing techniques, employee training and orientation, recognition and reward practices, performance management, and the impact of wage and hour, family medical leave, Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments (ADAA), workers' compensation, National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), and other employment and labor-related laws that govern fair treatment of employees.
