Wiggin and Dana attorney, Najia Khalid, will be leading a workshop at Columbia University through the PowerBridge NY and Columbia Technology Ventures initiatives on October 10, 2018, "Immigration 101 for Entrepreneurs and Startups: Building Your Immigration Case." She will cover immigration law essentials for entrepreneurs and startups and offer a primer on how to read, navigate, and evaluate financial documents, which are critical to various employment-based immigration cases. Building on her experience regularly counselling entrepreneurs and multinational organizations aspiring to open new entities in the U.S., Najia will focus on the development of good business plans, a cornerstone for many employment-based visas, and highlight sources of funds and financing documents. During this workshop, Najia will help entrepreneurs plan ahead for compliance and record-keeping items that will be important in the future when the businesses they establish are subject to employment, tax, and immigration laws.
