Wiggin and Dana Attorneys Present to the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges

September 1, 2016

Wiggin and Dana education attorneys Aaron Bayer and Benjamin Daniels gave a presentation on September 1, 2016, to the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges on the Lessons from Fisher v. University of Texas.

Their presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the Supreme Court's decision, which upheld affirmative action in admissions with certain limitations. Ben and Aaron also highlighted the important lessons that each institution should draw from Justice Kennedy's decision, focusing on the need to build evidence to support race-conscious admissions programs as schools engage in what the Supreme Court called the "ongoing obligation to engage in constant deliberation" over the use of race in college admissions. They also previewed future challenges to race-conscious admissions.
