Michael Menapace Promoted to Counsel

Hartford – Wiggin and Dana is pleased to announce that Michael Menapace has been promoted to Counsel.

Michael is a member of the firm's Litigation Department and his practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and insurance and reinsurance law. He has significant experience representing leading insurance industry trade groups before state and federal courts in complex insurance disputes, as well as in arbitrations across the country. Michael also advises insurers on policy construction, coverage, and regulatory issues.

Michael's practice also includes counseling companies on a variety of privacy and data protection issues, procedures and practices. In addition, he advises clients in connection with internal investigations and responses to government inquiries and subpoenas, including recent federal and state inquiries into forced placed insurance, contingent commissions/broker compensation and finite reinsurance transactions.

Michael serves on the Board of Directors for the Hartford County Bar Association and is Co-Chair of its Federal Practice Section. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees for The Hartt School, University of Hartford. He was the recipient of the New Leaders of the Law Award from the Connecticut Law Tribune in 2005. He teaches insurance law at Quinnipiac University School of Law and is co-editor of The Handbook on Additional Insureds, published by the American Bar Association (2012).

Before practicing law, Michael was a college music professor and administrator with an active U.S. and international music performance schedule, including as saxophonist with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. Michael began his legal career in the insurance/reinsurance practice group of a major international law firm. He graduated with a B.M. from University of Hartford/The Hartt School of Music and received his J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law.
