Katherine Hsu Hagmann


Kate is Counsel in the firm’s Litigation Department and a member of the Medical Malpractice Defense Practice Group. Her practice focuses on the defense of hospitals and health care providers in matters alleging professional negligence. She has been recognized as a Rising Star in the area of health care law by New England Super Lawyers.

Kate has extensive experience defending health care providers facing malpractice claims. She also has represented health care clients in regulatory compliance matters and government investigations and audits. She has negotiated employment and business services contracts for health care practices and individual providers and has experience analyzing and litigating insurance coverage disputes.

Kate has also represented clients in insurance coverage litigation, contract disputes, CUTPA actions, construction litigation, and state court appeals.

Kate received her J.D. with high honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she was a Symposium Editor for the Connecticut Law Review and Treasurer for the Unemployment Action Center. She earned her B.A. from Wesleyan University, Phi Beta Kappa.

Kate has represented children in foster care as a pro bono attorney for Lawyers for Children America, and she serves as a New Haven Regional Co-chair of the Connecticut Asian Pacific American Bar Association.
