Wiggin and Dana Attorney Receives Connecticut Bar Association Award

April 7, 2014

Wiggin and Dana is pleased to announce that attorney Jim Craven was awarded the Connecticut Bar Association's (CBA) Anthony V. DeMayo Pro Bono Award.

Recipients of the Anthony V. DeMayo Pro Bono Award are selected by the CBA's Pro Bono Committee. Named in honor of the late Judge Anthony V. DeMayo (1924-2012), the award recognizes CBA members who volunteer for the Pro Bono Network. The recipients are selected based on their demonstrated dedication to the provision of legal services without expectation of payment to those in need.

Jim is Counsel in the firm's Litigation Department. Jim is also currently Chairman of the Board of the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association (CDLA) and served as the CDLA President for the 2012-13 term. His practice concentrates on toxic torts, complex personal injury claims, medical malpractice, product liability claims, and pharmaceutical and medical device defense.

In 2012-2013, DRI awarded Jim the Exceptional Performance Citation. Jim is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association (Litigation Section and eDiscovery Task Force) and an elected member to the CBA House of Delegates. Jim is also a member of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys. Jim also was selected and served on the Connecticut Chief Justice's Judicial Performance Evaluation Committee. In 2008, Jim received Wiggin and Dana's Pro Bono award for his litigation work for Statewide Legal Services and New Haven Legal Assistance clients. Over the past four years, he has averaged more than 175 hours annually on pro bono matters.

In recognition of his success, Jim was presented with this award at a formal ceremony on April 4, 2014 at Cascade in Hamden.
