Wiggin and Dana Lawyers Travel to United Kingdom for Trade Mission
Export Lawyers Join Trip of US Business Leaders and Government Officials
New Haven - Wiggin and Dana lawyers Joseph Martini and Tahlia Townsend joined a prestigious group of business leaders and government officials on a Trade Mission to London, England from April 17-21. Joe and Tahlia are both member's of Wiggin and Dana's Defense, OFAC and Export Compliance Practice Group.
The Trade Mission was organized by Anne Evans, the District Director of the U.S. Commercial Service, an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce. This Trade Mission is part of President Obama's National Export Initiative to double U.S. exports in five years. The UK defense and aerospace sector is the second largest aerospace market in the world.
Anne was supported by Melissa Grosso, a Senior International Trade Specialist with the Commercial Service, and staff from the U.S. Embassy in London, including John Coronado, the Embassy's Commercial Attache.
Led by U.S. Congressman Joe Courtney, a member of the Armed Services Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Trade Mission included several briefings given to Trade Mission participants by some of the largest UK defense and aerospace companies, and a briefing given by senior officials of the UK Ministry of Defense at the American Embassy in London. The Trade Mission also included meetings with members of significant UK trade associations, and an opportunity to speak with the Right Honorable Bob Ainsworth, the former UK Secretary of State for Defence and a current member of Parliament.
