Wiggin and Dana Partner Appointed to The Health Information Technology and Exchange Advisory Committee

Wiggin and Dana is pleased to announce that Health Care Partner, Michelle Wilcox DeBarge, was recently appointed to the legal and policy subcommittee of The Health Information Technology and Exchange Advisory Committee.

The Health Information Technology and Exchange Advisory Committee (HITEAC) provides advice to the Connecticut Department of Public Health, the State's lead health information exchange organization, on development and implementation of the State's health information technology plan. The HITEAC is also charged with developing appropriate protocols for health information exchange and electronic data standards, including provisions related to security and privacy.

Michelle resides in the firm's Hartford office. She chairs the Health Information Technology and Clinical Research Regulation and Compliance Practice Groups. Michelle serves on the University of Connecticut Health Center Institutional Review Board and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the Applied Research Ethics National Association. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Health Lawyers Association.

Michelle received a B.A. from Williams College, studied abroad at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England, and received her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
