Susan M. Kennedy

Biography

Susan is Counsel in Wiggin and Dana’s Litigation Department and a member of the Insurance Practice Group and the White Collar Defense, Investigations and Corporate Compliance Practice Group. She focuses on complex commercial, insurance coverage and defense, and securities litigation.

Before joining Wiggin and Dana, Susan practiced for nineteen years at a large firm in Philadelphia in the commercial litigation and insurance groups. She has prosecuted and defended contract, insurance, false claims, securities, and intellectual property cases through all phases of litigation, from pleadings to appeals. She has first and second chaired numerous bench and jury trials and arbitrations to favorable resolutions for both local family-owned businesses and Fortune 100 companies. She has also argued hundreds of motions before appellate and trial judges throughout the country, particularly in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey state and federal courts. In addition to her trial work, Susan has helped clients resolve disputes through mediation and is skilled in counseling clients in both risk management and litigation avoidance.

Susan received her J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School and her B.A. magna cum laude in Economics from La Salle.

She is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA) and of the Bar Associations of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. She has served for years on the Philadelphia Bar Association Guidance Committee and has drafted ethics opinions for both that committee and the ABA Committee on Professional Responsibility.
