Partner Paul Tuchmann Quoted in Law360 on Senator Robert Menendez Bribery and Corruption Trial
On May 10, 2024, Partner Paul Tuchmann was quoted in the Law360 article titled, “New Evidence, Old Politics To Collide In 2nd Menendez Trial.”
Commenting on Sen. Menendez’s trial, Paul says the Menendez case is very important because sitting U.S. Senators are rarely charged with bribery, let alone being influenced to act on behalf of a foreign government.
With respect to the prosecution’s trial strategy, Paul shares, “I would be incredibly shocked if the prosecution opening statement does not spend a certain amount of time emphasizing the gold bars as an example of how Sen. Menendez and his co-defendants knew that what they were doing was wrong because no one who’s thinking they’re doing something that’s legitimate, particularly a United States senator, deals in gold bars.”
