On June 5, 2023, Associate Jenna Cutler and Assistant Connecticut State Comptroller and General Counsel, Yamuna Menon, will moderate a discussion at the Connecticut Bar Association’s 2023 Connecticut Legal Conference featuring Taylor Brown, Attorney within the LGBTQ & HIV Project of the ACLU in New York, and Kenneth Bartschi, Connecticut Appellate Attorney with McElroy Deutsch Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP, on the recent and current cases before the Supreme Court of the United States that have an effect on the rights of individuals in the LGBTQ+ community.

The panel will explore the potential impact in Connecticut and nationwide following the June 2022 Dobbs decision.  Further, the panel will discuss related congressional action and legislation that could come before SCOTUS, including cases regarding the rights of transgender athletes, the medical rights of the transgender community, and the affect that book bans and laws such as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill have on the LGBTQ+ community as a whole.  This panel is part of the Trial/Appellate Track and has been credited with one general CLE credit.
