On December 15, 2021, Jody Erdfarb‘s and Maureen Weaver‘s article titled, “Get Ready Now For 2022’s New Hospice Oversight,” was published in Law360. The article discusses the new hospice regulations that Medicare-certified hospice programs can expect in 2022.
Jody and Maureen explain, “…the purpose of these new regulations is to increase and improve transparency, oversight and enforcement of hospice programs and to ensure that survey processes are effective in driving quality of care hospice programs.”
The article addresses the new regulations and new penalties for noncompliance while highlighting, “These new hospice survey and enforcement regulations raise the stakes for Medicare participating hospices. As these regulations are rolled out across the country, hospices should be on the lookout for further regulatory guidance from the CMS and get to work now on survey preparedness to mitigate risks.”
