Trust Design for 2020 Estate Planning

On Wednesday, July 22, 2020, Partner Michael Clear is participating in a live video conference for the Fairfield County Bar Association on the topic of “Trust Design for 2020 Estate Planning.”

Michael will co-present alongside Martin M. Shenkman, Esq., of Martin M. Shenkman, PC and discuss “new Connecticut trust law, volatile financial markets, historically low interest rates and unpredictability with the future of the estate and gift tax.” They will also discuss spousal lifetime access trusts (SLATs) and will review how to design these trusts for ultimate flexibility and to break the reciprocal trust doctrine. In addition, “the program will highlight some of the new Connecticut Trust Code provisions and discuss their impact on drafting – such as asset protection trusts, notice requirements and trust directors.”
