Associate Jermaine Brookshire, Jr. Elected to Serve in CBA House of Delegates
The Connecticut Bar Association (“CBA”) House of Delegates has elected Associate Jermaine Brookshire, Jr. to serve a three-year term as a District Delegate representing New Haven County’s District 9. The House of Delegates is the primary decision-making and policy-making board of the CBA. Except for budgetary matters and those matters which are addressed in the CBA’s legislative policies, all significant decisions or policies of the CBA are made by the House of Delegates, including, but not limited to, all recommendations to the judges with respect to amendments to the Code of Professional Responsibility, the filing of an amicus curiae brief on behalf of the CBA, and all recommendations concerning the organization of the courts. The House of Delegates consists of the CBA officers, six section delegates, four affinity bar delegates, and up to 50 district delegates across Connecticut representing each of the 17 CBA districts. The districts are determined by geographic area, and the number of delegates in each district is proportional to the number of member attorneys in the district.
This new leadership role only adds to Jermaine’s already very active membership in the CBA. Jermaine also continues to serve the CBA as an executive committee member of the Young Lawyers’ Section, the CBA’s largest section with over 2,500 members, as its Continuing Legal Education Director, as well as a member of the CBA Civility Task Force and the CBA Lawyer Well-Being Committee.
