Wiggin and Dana is pleased to announce that partner Aaron S. Bayer has been elected to be a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers (AAAL).
Aaron is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department and former chair of the firm’s Appellate Practice Group. He has extensive experience as an appellate lawyer, having handled high-stakes, high-profile appeals in federal and state courts around the country. His appeals have involved a variety of areas, including insurance matters, commercial disputes, governmental immunity, and constitutional issues. Among other recognitions, he was named a Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation. Aaron also wrote the appellate column for the National Law Journal for more than a decade. In his public service career, Aaron served as the Deputy Attorney General of Connecticut and counsel to both the U.S. Senate Governmental Affairs Committee and U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman.
The American Academy of Appellate Lawyers was founded in 1990 to recognize outstanding appellate lawyers and promote the improvement of appellate advocacy and the administration of the appellate courts. To be eligible for fellowship, a nominee’s practice must have focused substantially on appeals during the last 15 years. Candidates must also be nominated and seconded by current Academy Fellows, reviewed and recommended by a Membership Screening Committee and elected at an Academy Board of Directors meeting. Academy membership is limited to 500 members in the U.S.
