Partner Benjamin Diessel Quoted in RISMedia on the National Association of RELATORSĀ® Recent Settlement
On March 21, 2024, Partner Benjamin Diessel was quoted in the RISMedia article titled, “Attorneys Say Legal Battles Will Continue as Companies Face Tough Choices.”
In regards to the NAR recently agreeing to pay $418 million to settle a series of antitrust lawsuits, Ben says, “The NAR settlement is not the end. One of the ways that the industry is responding is by folks sort of just taking a hard look at what theyāre doing and figuring out if there are changes that are appropriate to make. And as with everything else, itās very fact-specific, and the circumstances matter.ā
Ben continues, “The choice of what to do if you arenāt covered by the NAR settlement is individualized and ‘fact intensive.'”
Ben also emphasized the near-term uncertainty and said he expects some companies to continue fightingāeven some of those who may have the option to opt-in to the NAR settlement.
