On January 3, 2024, Partner Paul Tuchmannย was quoted in theย Law360 article, โ’Fat Leonard’ Plea Deal Stands Slim Chance After Capture.โ The article discusses Leonard Francis, a 59-year-old Malaysian defense contractor known as “Fat Leonard,” who will appear in a California federal courtroom Thursday for a long-awaited status hearing more than a year after he cut off an ankle monitor and escaped house arrest in an upscale neighborhood in San Diego in early September 2022.
“The government is going to do whatever it can to throw the book at this guy,” Paul says, “If you jump bail, you’re subject to separate prosecution for an entirely different offense. And when it comes time for sentencing, you’ll lose your acceptance-of-responsibility points.”
