Partner Paul Tuchmann Quoted in Various News Sources on the Sentencing of Caroline Ellison
On September 24, 2024, Partner Paul Tuchmann appeared on CNBC to discuss the sentencing of Caroline Ellison, who was the star witness in the criminal case against FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried. Paul explained that Ellison was a critical witness for the government and that her cooperation was extremely impressive. He noted that she suffered significantly more consequences than the average cooperating witness, which the sentencing judge would consider very important.
Also on September 24, Paul was quoted in CNBC and WIRED stories on Caroline Ellison.
CNBC quoted Paul, “Most judges don’t like sending people to jail who aren’t a threat to harm others in the future. The chance of Ellison ever harming anyone through criminal conduct in the future again are very low.”
WIRED quoted Paul, “In cases like this, it is usually so important to the prosecution to have someone who is close to the lead defendant you are trying, who can take the jury inside. She was an immensely valuable witness in an immensely important case.”
