Paul Tuchmann Featured in ESPN Coverage of Terry Rozier Motion to Dismiss Wire Fraud Charges

December 24, 2025

On December 23, 2025, Partner Paul Tuchmann was quoted in the ESPN article, “Terry Rozier’s attorneys move to dismiss sports betting charges,” where he offered insight into the wire‑fraud standards at issue in the case.

Paul explains that in a wire fraud case, prosecutors must prove that the alleged scheme’s purpose was to deprive the victim of money or property. He notes, “It can’t just be that you lied to the victim … but you also have to prove that the lie either successfully did or at least was intended to cause the victim of the alleged scheme to give up money or property as a result of it.”

He further observes that the alleged victims in the Rozier matter are the sportsbooks that paid out on the winning bets, concluding, “They were deprived of money or property under false pretenses that was paid to Rozier’s alleged coconspirators and people he aided and abetted.”
