Wiggin and Dana Announces Counsel Promotions for 2020

Wiggin and Dana is pleased to announce the promotions of five new Counsel effective January 1, 2020. We are proud to congratulate the following attorneys who will be promoted to Counsel:

Mike Kenny is Counsel in the firmโ€™s Litigation Department, where he focuses on commercial, probate, construction, and maritime litigation. He has prosecuted and defended cases in the federal, state, and appellate courts of New York and Connecticut, as well as numerous Surrogateโ€™s Court proceedings. He has also represented clients in domestic and international arbitrations, including proceedings before the American Arbitration Association and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution. Mike’s litigation and arbitration experience includes the preparation and trial of warranty claims and ship repair disputes. He has argued before New Yorkโ€™s appellate courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He is a member of the New York State, New York City, and Dutchess County Bar Associations.

Sean Koehler is Counsel in the Litigation Department , where he represents clients in civil, criminal, and regulatory matters. As a member of the firmโ€™s International Trade Compliance and Sanctions Practice Group, Sean counsels clients on compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), and U.S. trade sanctions regulations administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). His experience in this area includes conducting over eighty internal investigations into potential export violations; authoring numerous voluntary self-disclosures and directed disclosures to the U.S. government; program management of enterprise-wide compliance programs; developing corrective actions designed to address and prevent export violations; training and advising compliance personnel and in-house investigators; and performing quality control on voluntary self-disclosures prepared by in-house personnel. Sean recently designed and managed the implementation of a best-in-class EAR and OFAC compliance program at a global electronics company, which led to the dismissal of a federal criminal investigation. Sean has also been seconded to a leading aerospace and defense contractor, where he conducted investigations, oversaw junior in-house investigators, and developed and implemented compliance enhancements as part of the companyโ€™s continuous improvement program.

Elisabeth Pimentel is Counsel in Wiggin and Danaโ€™s Health Care Practice where she advises health care providers on a wide range of corporate and regulatory issues. She regularly represents clients with respect to affiliations and mergers, provider and physician practice acquisitions, creation of medical foundations, and provider and physician professional services agreements and employment agreements. Her regulatory practice encompasses Medicare compliance; Certificate of Need matters before the Connecticut Department of Public Healthโ€™s (DPH) Office of Health Care Access; federal and state tax exemption, HIPAA compliance and other privacy matters, and licensure matters before the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, and the Connecticut DPH. Elisabeth previously served as the Interim Risk Manager in-house at a large academic medical center where she provided day-to-day risk management advice. Before joining the firm, Elisabeth was a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Alfred V. Covello and for six years was an officer in the United States Navy where she conducted research in the field of medical education and simulation-based training technology.

David Roth is Counsel in Wiggin and Danaโ€™s Litigation Department and a member of the firmโ€™s Appellate, Art and Museum Law, and Intellectual Property Litigation practice groups. He has assisted insurers, universities, large companies, cultural institutions, and sovereign nations in a variety of complex civil litigation and appeals. Representative matters include trademark, copyright, and patent cases; insurance class-actions; art-ownership disputes; and high-stakes business litigation. David has also represented private individuals and companies in several criminal matters and internal investigations. Before joining the firm, David held a clerkship with Judge Christopher Droney of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Adam Silverman is Counsel in the firmโ€™s Corporate Department where he advises mature and emerging growth companies on commercial agreements, venture capital and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, governance, and general corporate matters. Adam works with a range of clients across several industries, including technology, life sciences, manufacturing, media and entertainment, food and beverage, and cannabis, with a focus on advising early-stage companies. Adam also counsels clients on federal regulatory clearance of mergers and acquisitions through compliance with the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Act. Before joining the firm, Adam was an associate at Greenberg Traurig, where he advised clients on regulatory, transactional, and litigation matters related to environmental law. Prior to that, he worked in the music industry as a manager and record label executive.
