Wiggin and Dana Recognized at 14th Annual GCR Awards
Wiggin and Dana is pleased to announce that it has been awarded “Litigation of the Year – Epic Games v Google” at the 14th Annual Global Competition Review (GCR) Awards held on April 8, 2024, in Washington, DC. The awards honored the worldโs leading antitrust lawyers, economists and enforcers as well as the biggest cases from 2023.
Wiggin and Dana represented Epic Games. Inc, maker of the videogame Fortnite, as trial co-counsel in a recent jury trial against Google. After a four-week-long trial in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the jury deliberated for fewer than three hours before returning a verdict for Epic on every claim it had brought, including that Google engaged in unlawful monopolization, illegal restraints of trade, and tying, in violation of the Sherman Act. Epicโs suit successfully challenged Googleโs anticompetitive conduct in markets for Android app distribution and in-app billing services for digital goods. Wiggin and Dana served alongside co-counsel Cravath, Swaine and Moore, LLP as trial counsel to Epic. Partner Benjamin Diessel and Nathan Denning led Wiggin and Danaโs trial team, which also included partners Robert Hoff and Paul Tuchmann, as well as associates Zeynep Aydoฤan, Christopher Bailes, Amanda Gutierrez, and Nestor Rodriguez Smyt.
Wiggin and Danaโsย Antitrust and Technology Disputes Practice Group routinely represents clients in cutting-edge and high-profile antitrust and technology-related disputes, including leading technology companies, international pharmaceutical companies, manufacturers, hospital systems, startups, franchisors and others.
