David Speranzini

Counsel

David is Counsel in Wiggin and Dana’s Real Estate, Environmental and Energy Department in the New Haven office. For over twenty years, David has counseled and provided clients with strategic legal advice and solutions to complex environmental matters.  

David counsels individual, corporate and municipal clients on a broad range of environmental matters, including: 

  • Assessing the applicability of, and managing compliance with, the Connecticut Transfer Act;
  • Developing, implementing and managing the environmental due diligence programs for real estate and business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, leases and financial transactions;   
  • Managing the investigation, remediation and redevelopment of contaminated properties;
  • Drafting and negotiating the environmental provisions in complex legal agreements;
  • Providing clients with hands-on environmental permitting and compliance assistance; 
  • Representing clients in the defense, resolution and settlement of environmental litigation matters; and
  • Defending clients against governmental authorities in environmental enforcement actions and proceedings under state and federal laws.

Prior to joining Wiggin and Dana, David was a Partner at a Connecticut boutique environmental law firm where he represented clients in environmental matters.

Prior to becoming an attorney, David worked at United Technologies Corporation Pratt & Whitney Division as an environmental engineer where he was responsible for all aspects of environmental compliance and the oversight of remediation activities at several manufacturing facilities. 

David received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering (magna cum laude), M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, and J.D. degree from the University of Connecticut.

David is active in his local community and currently serves on the Inland Wetlands Commission in the Town of Woodbridge. He formerly served on the Conservation Commission and previously was an elected member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in the Town of Woodbridge. 

David was also a founding director of Massaro Community Farm, Inc., a non-profit certified organic farm, located in the Town of Woodbridge. He served on the Board of Directors from 2009 to 2011 and from 2016 to 2019.
