Mia is an Associate in Wiggin and Dana’s Litigation Department. Her practice consists of medical malpractice defense, general liability and marine insurance coverage disputes, defending against third-party subpoenas, and franchise litigation. Mia also represents minor children in family court proceedings through Lawyers For Children America, an organization that provides pro-bono legal services to children in court and other proceedings.
Mia first joined Wiggin and Dana as a summer associate in 2022 as part of the Yale New Haven Health System/Wiggin and Dana Diversity Scholar Program. As a summer associate, Mia spent time working in-house at Yale New Haven Health System’s Legal and Risk Services Department.
Mia received her J.D., summa cum laude, from the Quinnipiac University School of Law, where she was the Casenote Editor of the Quinnipiac Law Review. Her student note titled, “The Impossibility of Settler Colonialism and Its Influence on the Supreme Court” was published by the Quinnipiac Law Review and centered on the legal sovereignty of Native American tribes. At Quinnipiac she worked in the Civil Justice Clinic where she prepared U-Visa and T-Visa immigration applications for clients. She was also an active member of numerous organizations, including President of the Black Law Students Association and Director of Communications of the Latinx Law Students Association.
Mia received her B.A. in Ethnic Studies and Theatre & Performance Studies from Brown University. She also speaks Spanish.
Mia currently serves on the board of the New Haven Legal Assistance Association, she is apart of the Advocate Network of Lawyers for Lawyers for Children America, and she is the secretary-elect of the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association.
