Tala Sebastian is an Associate in Wiggin and Dana’s Litigation Department who helps clients protect, enforce, and defend valuable intellectual property rights. Her practice focuses on copyright and trademark litigation and counseling, and she also has significant experience handling patent and trade secret disputes, including cross-border matters.

Tala is frequently involved in closely watched intellectual property disputes involving novel technologies, globally recognized brands, and evolving business models. Her matters have addressed emerging issues involving data scraping and artificial intelligence, the use of luxury-brand trademarks in technology products and platforms, and the application of established copyright and trademark principles in new commercial contexts. She has represented clients across a broad range of industries, including video games and interactive entertainment, technology, music, luxury goods and fashion, sports, beauty, and medical devices.

Her experience includes matters involving copyright infringement, trademark and trade dress claims, patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, and related commercial disputes, including breach of contract, defamation, and business tort claims. In addition to litigation, Tala advises companies on copyright and trademark matters, helping them develop intellectual property protection strategies, assess infringement risks prior to the release of new creative and technological works, navigate cross-border issues and international enforcement efforts, and resolve disputes before they reach the courtroom.

Before joining Wiggin and Dana, Tala practiced at a boutique litigation firm, where she focused on patent litigation and complex commercial litigation and arbitration. Earlier in her career, she practiced in Melbourne, Australia, handling class actions and other complex litigation matters.

Tala earned her LL.M. from Harvard Law School and her J.D., with First Class Honors, from Melbourne Law School. While in law school, she won several national competitions, including the Sir Harry Gibbs Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition. She was also a member of the London Philharmonic Choir.
