U.S. and explores its implications for white collar criminal defense attorneys faced with a client’s hearing on whether to revoke supervised release for a violation of a condition of that release and impose re-imprisonment. Defense counsel must object if during a revocation hearing a judge explicitly or implicitly relies on retribution rationales, which is expressly prohibited by Esteras.
