This year’s spring meeting of the Section of Public Utility Communications and Transportation Law, held at Pepco Holdings’ Washington conference center on April 10, was well attended and aptly named. The meeting’s general theme, “21st Century Regulation, Paradigms under Pressure,” is clearly a topic that has been weighing on the minds of the speakers and attendees for quite a while. Nearly every speaker commented on the effects of technology, particularly the internet, on the industries that the Section serves, and the pressing need for effective industry and regulatory leadership in the future.
