Wiggin and Dana Co-Authors SAPS (6th Edition) Connecticut Chapter — First ABA Antitrust eBook Released
Wiggin and Dana’s Robert M. Langer and Associate Zeynep E. Vallance, together with Quyen Truong of Covington & Burling LLP and Alundai Benjamin of Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, each former UConn Law School students of Mr. Langer, have co-authored the Connecticut Chapter of the Sixth Edition of State Antitrust Practice and Statutes (SAPS). This edition marks a milestone as the first chapter to be released in e-book format by the American Bar Association Antitrust Law Section.
The Sixth Edition of State Antitrust Practice and Statutes—formerly a 3,000-page, three-volume treatise systematically summarizing the substantive civil and criminal case law, procedure, practice, and statutes for each of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands—makes its debut as an electronic-only work, issued chapter by chapter in eBook format. Antitrust lawyers, academics, and other readers may now select and purchase only those chapters that have the greatest relevance to them.
While every state but one has its own antitrust act that mirrors, at least to some extent, interpretations of the federal antitrust laws, there are only a few with significant case law. The state antitrust law of Connecticut, the first chapter of this new edition, differs materially in several respects from federal law. These differences have had, and will continue to have, profound consequences for litigants. For example, Connecticut’s statutory analogue to the federal state action immunity doctrine is far more restrictive than its federal counterpart, and its analogue to the Robinson-Patman Price Discrimination Act provides a far easier path to prove that an act of price discrimination may violate the Connecticut Antitrust Act. These and many other differences are explained in this chapter.
Wiggin and Dana has proudly authored the Connecticut chapter in every edition of SAPS other than the first edition.
