Senior Counsel Robert Langer was recently quoted across multiple media outlets regarding the jury verdict involving Live Nation and its subsidiary, Ticketmaster, and the finding that they violated federal and state antitrust laws. His commentary appeared on News8, NBC CT, and in CTInsider, where he provided insight into the significance of the ruling and the potential remedies available to the court.

On News8, Bob noted, “The fact that the states went ahead and litigated this case and won before a jury is really a remarkable, historical development.”

On NBC CT, Bob explained that if the ruling stands, consumers could see increased competition and better pricing. He added, “Economics 101 demonstrates that increased competition produces better products and lower prices. That is certainly what the states have been aiming for.”

In CTInsider, Bob explained that the judge could require Live Nation to divest Ticketmaster or compel the parent company, which hosts tens of thousands of concerts annually, to sell certain venues. Bob emphasized that the states’ recommendations will carry significant weight, noting, “All of that will be on the table. The remedy the judge might impose could be quite significant.”
