Jody Erdfarb, Sherie Friedrich, and Nicholas J. Mercadante, will be giving a presentation titled Telemedicine in the Long Term Care Setting: Tips for Success and Traps for the Unwary at the Long Term Care and the Law Conference hosted by the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA), which will run from Wednesday, February 27 to Friday, March 1, 2019.
Jody's presentation will provide an overview of trends and developments in state and federal law governing the provision of telehealth/telemedicine, including regulations regarding the use of telehealth, requirements for provider licensing, and key changes on the horizon. She will also cover:
- Where have all the providers gone? (including particular discussion of HRSA/HPSA and answering the shortage of qualified providers servicing the space throughout the country).
- Why telehealth is vital to continuity along the care continuum? (following patients that move between facilities or in and out of care, in particular addiction and behavioral health patients).
- What are the clinical considerations for telehealth. How to successfully transition from in-person care to the electronic medium.
- How to meet CMS and payor requirements.
