We are pleased to invite you to attend the next meeting of Wiggin & Dana's Human Resources Circle on Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at 8:30 a.m. in the firm’s New Haven office.

John Zandy, chairman of our Labor and Employment practice group, will discuss:

Responding to a Discrimination Complaint: Practical Advice and Strategies for Handling a CCHRO Claim.

Being served with a discrimination complaint by a disgruntled employee is almost inevitable in today’s environment. Responding appropriately to this first stage of litigation is essential to building the best defense. Speaking from years of experience in handling such matters, John will provide advice for formulating an effective response. He will walk us through the process from the service of the complaint through hearing, explaining in practical terms the issues HR professionals will confront along the way.

Topics will include:

  • responding to the complaint,
  • preparing a strategy,
  • handling the fact finding,
  • when to engage in settlement discussions
  • and ultimately, what happens if the matter goes to public hearing.
This should prove to be an informative and timely program concerning an issue of importance to companies of nearly every size and type. For those of you who have not yet attended a Human Resources Circle breakfast meeting, we hope you'll join us. Wiggin & Dana periodically hosts a breakfast session that includes a discussion of topical issues led by an authority in the field. Audience participation is encouraged and attendees have commented on how they enjoy the opportunity to exchange ideas with their peers at other organizations. Sessions are brief, but informative, and enable you to minimize disruption in your workday while staying on top of important issues.
