The Hon. Warren W. Eginton Justice Institute Keynote Speaker: Attorney Jermaine Brookshire Jr.

On Friday, July 19, 2024, Attorney Jermaine Brookshire, Jr. will deliver the keynote address at The Hon. Warren W. Eginton Justice Institute at the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.

The Justice Institute is an immersive summer program for high school students who are afforded the opportunity to meet and learn from several attorneys and state and federal judges. The summer experience includes instructional panels about civil and criminal litigation, including sessions about how to prepare opening statements, direct and cross-examinations, and closing arguments; a visit to a United States Marshals Service cell block; observation of court proceedings, including a criminal sentencing and a naturalization ceremony; and a visit from a police K-9 unit and the bomb squad, among other experiences. The summer program culminates in a robust mock trial competition in real courtrooms.
