What Would a Model Brownfield Remediation and Redevelopment Statute Look Like?

Various states and the federal government have adopted patterns for remediation and redevelopment of brownfield sites that include both mandatory requirements for responsible parties and voluntary action by interested, innocent parties. The standards differ as to scope of remediation, governmental oversight, public participation, and long-term liability. This program includes a roundtable discussion of the elements of various models that have created both successes and challenges and a brainstorming session about what other elements a model statute might include.
