Appellate Partner Jonathan M. Freiman Argues Major California Supreme Court Case
New Haven - Wiggin and Dana Partner Jonathan Freiman argued today before the California Supreme Court in a case for Hartford Casualty Insurance Co. Law360 Appellate recently highlighted the case, Harford Casualty Insurance Co. v. J.R. Marketing, as one of two major insurance cases pending in the California Supreme Court, raising a "key" issue in that state's insurance law. See Law360 Appellate, "5 Insurance Battlegrounds To Watch In Calif.," available at http://www.law360.com/appellate/articles/653051. The case asks whether an insurer that has provided independent counsel to an insured may "seek reimbursement of defense fees and costs it considers unreasonable and unnecessary by pursuing a reimbursement action against independent counsel or can the insurer seek reimbursement only from its insured."
Mr. Freiman is Chair of the Appellate and Complex Legal Issues practice group at Wiggin and Dana LLP.
