Button-down law firms try white-collar crime

As criminal court dockets fill up with cases relating to the likes of Tyco and WorldCom, in addition to an ever-swelling host of Wall Street scandals, big corporate law firms are jumping on the white-collar bandwagon.  They are aggressively staffing up to launch specialized criminal defense departments or bolstering existing ones...
"For any particular conduct under scrutiny, you might have four or five different regulators commencing investigations, and they are often not coordinated," says David Fein, chair of the white-collar practice at Wiggin & Dana.  "From the defense perspective, it is difficult, but critical, to manage all of that frenzied activity."
