August 15, 2018

New Haven – Wiggin and Dana is pleased to announce that Jonathan Freiman has been named one of the top art lawyers in the United States by The Best Lawyers in America® 2019. Best Lawyers 2019 lists only 21 lawyers across the entire United States in its Art Law category. Jonathan frequently counsels art and museum clients from inside and outside the United States in a range of important and sensitive matters. His representations include the defense of the Federal Republic of Germany and a German state museum in a dispute over a quarter-billion-dollar claim to medieval art and artifacts, the defense of the Yale University Art Gallery in a dispute over a Van Gogh masterpiece, the defense of the Peabody Museum in a dispute with the Government of Peru over Incan artifacts, and the representation of investors in an art investment fund. Best Lawyers describes its selection process as being based on an extensive peer-review survey in which more than 41,000 attorneys cast almost 3.9 million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their practice areas.
