November 17, 2014

New Haven – Wiggin and Dana is pleased to announce that it was presented with the Firm Stand for Justice Award at the New Haven Legal Assistance Association's (NHLAA) 50th Anniversary Celebration on November 15th. The Award is presented annually to a law firm that has provided longstanding financial support and pro bono service to New Haven Legal Assistance.

"Wiggin and Dana is honored to receive such a prestigious award," said Bob Benjamin, Chair of the firm's Executive Committee. "We are proud to support the Association and its commitment to make the judicial system equally accessible to everyone in the New Haven community."

Each year, the firm financially contributes to NHLAA, takes on pro bono cases from NHLAA, and sponsors the Equal Access to Justice Reception. Wiggin and Dana lawyers participate in the Annual Stratton Faxon New Haven Road Race to raise money for NHLAA and serve on the Board of Directors of Friends of New Haven Legal Assistance.

"Wiggin and Dana was one of the first member firms when we launched our ‘Firm Stand for Justice' campaign, and it has continued to support New Haven Legal Assistance each and every year since with a generous contribution," commented Susan Garcia Nofi, Executive Director of the New Haven Legal Assistance Association. "The attorneys in their New Haven office are equally generous with their time and talent, whether running in the New Haven Road Race to benefit NHLAA, taking on cases of low-income clients pro bono, or serving on our board of directors. Wiggin and Dana exemplifies the best of private firm commitment to justice for all, and we could not be more pleased to honor them as we celebrate fifty years of New Haven Legal Assistance."

Founded in 1964, NHLAA provides quality legal services to individuals and groups unable to obtain legal services due to limited income, age, disability, discrimination or other barriers. NHLAA was one of the first legal services programs established in the nation and the federal government uses it as a model for similar programs throughout the country.
