Partner Paul Tuchmann Quoted on How President Donald Trump’s Victory Impacts Legal Cases

November 11, 2024

On November 8, 2024, Partner Paul Tuchmann was quoted in the Politico article titled, “Trump’s victory could end Eric Adams’ legal troubles.”

Paul discusses the impact of Donald Trump’s re-election on the federal corruption charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Paul explains that the U.S. attorney moving to dismiss a case post-indictment is simply not done unless there is a material change in the evidence or case law that would prevent prosecutors from securing a conviction. He is quoted, “You want people to plead guilty, otherwise you shouldn’t have indicted them in the first place.”

Also on November 8, Paul was quoted in the Law360 article titled, “How Trump Could Turn The Government Against Jack Smith.” Commenting on proposals for Congress to hold oversight hearings on the cases filed against Donald Trump by Special Prosecutor Jack Smith, Paul says, “If you were President Trump, that’s the last thing you would want anyone to spend time or attention on.”
