Wiggin and Dana Awards $3000 Scholarship to Darien Resident

January 24, 2011

New HavenThe law firm of Wiggin and Dana LLP and the Connecticut Bar Association's Antitrust & Trade Regulation Section have awarded the annual William G. Millman, Jr., Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $3,000 to Darien, Connecticut resident Carolyn H. Conley.

Carolyn, currently in her senior year at the University of Notre Dame, graduated from Darien High School.

The scholarship fund was created in memory of Wiggin and Dana's partner William Millman, who, at the age of 42, lost his courageous battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Millman was serving as chair of the CBA's Antitrust & Trade Regulation Section at the time of his death. A 1979 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a 1982 graduate of Georgetown University Law School, Millman became an associate at Wiggin and Dana upon graduation from law school and a partner in 1990.

Since 2005, the scholarship has been administered annually by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and is awarded to a Connecticut resident who is an undergraduate student at a four-year college. Preference is given to students who have been accepted or are enrolled at the University of Notre Dame and who profess a good faith intention to attend law school and return to Connecticut to practice law. Prior awardees of the William G. Millman, Jr. Memorial Scholarship have been Notre Dame undergraduates Katherine McCann of South Windsor; Tobias Bannon of Southington; Kelly Mannion of Guilford; Allison M. Vicenzi of Westport; and Christine M. D'Alessandro of Newtown.
