Wiggin and Dana Participates in Read Across America Day

March 4, 2016

The United Way of Greater New Haven organized local activities to celebrate national Read Across America Day, which honors Dr. Seuss' birthday by engaging the community in the effort to foster a love of reading among the youngest of students.

Wiggin and Dana attorneys partnered with representatives from Alexion Pharmaceuticals in reading aloud to elementary school children at the Lincoln-Bassett School, located in New Haven, on Wednesday, March 2. "We are proud to partner with The United Way by volunteering to read to local students where our employees live and work," said Paul Hughes, the firm's Managing Partner. "Literacy is extremely important for the foundation of success for students. And not only is reading Dr. Seuss fun and educational for the students we meet, but it's fun for us, too!"

The Read Across America event encourages children to keep reading and learning, providing them with the opportunity to excel. This annual initiative expects more than 45 million readers throughout the country both young and old to pick up a book and read.
