Wiggin and Dana Partner Quoted in Connecticut Law Tribune

July 23, 2013

Wiggin and Dana Partner Alan Schwartz was quoted in a July 12, 2013 Connecticut Law Tribune article titled, "Attorneys Play Key Role in Conn. Chapter of ADL." The article discusses local attorneys' involvement in the civil rights efforts of the Connecticut Chapter of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which is devoted to fighting anti-Semitism, racism and other forms of bigotry.

A longtime board member of the ADL, Alan describes how he first became involved with the organization, commenting that, "I was a young lawyer [in the late 1980s] looking for an organization to get involved with. I met the director at the time [David Waren], who was new to the office. I became quite enamored with the organization—not simply the civil rights part but the legislative part, and the programs it offers."

"The organization from top to bottom, locally and nationally, is run by top shelf people…many of whom could be making a lot more money in the private sector given their talents and skills," Alan continued. "Having chosen the private sector myself, I thought there's nothing better I could do than lend a hand and get my firm behind it."

Wiggin and Dana has a longstanding pro bono relationship with the ADL. On May 21, 2013, the ADL honored Wiggin and Dana with its annual Torch of Liberty Award for the firm's efforts to help strengthen the Greater New Haven community.
