Wiggin and Dana Real Estate, Environment and Energy Practice Group Welcomes Two New Attorneys
Wiggin and Dana welcomes Robyn Abbate and Joseph Fortier, two new Partners in the Real Estate, Environment and Energy Practice Group. They are both based in the firm's Hartford office.

As a member of the Real Estate, Environment and Energy Practice Group, Robyn's practice focuses on commercial leasing and real estate where she counsels local and national companies, developers, investors, and nonprofit organizations in various real estate leasing matters, including office, retail, industrial, bond, build-to-suit, mixed-use, and ground lease transactions, for both landlords and tenants, and in the purchase and sale of commercial real estate. She is frequently involved in complex lease restructurings and dispositions, and has handled a wide variety of real estate projects from the leasing of high rise office buildings, luxury retail space, medical office space, manufacturing and distribution facilities, and flagship office facilities, to the sale of historic property and development of commercial and residential buildings with significant state funding.
Robyn has negotiated leases for many prominent tenants, including Fortune 500 insurance companies, national retailers, and with some of the largest office and retail landlords in the U.S., and has helped to develop and structure office leasing programs, guidelines, and documentation for clients and projects. Her practice includes working with clients after the completion of a transaction to resolve post-occupancy issues in a timely and effective manner. In addition, Robyn assists clients with real estate due diligence for national and international merger and acquisition transactions. Prior to joining Wiggin and Dana, she was a commercial real estate partner at another Hartford area firm.
Robyn is on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut/Westchester Chapter of CoreNet Global, a national corporate real estate trade association, as well as a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, the International Association of Attorneys and Executives in Corporate Real Estate, the National Retail Tenants Association, the International Council of Shopping Centers, and the Hartford County Bar Association. Robyn earned her J.D., cum laude, from Western New England College School of Law and she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Connecticut, with honors. She is admitted to practice in Connecticut.
Joseph Fortier has a national commercial real estate practice with extensive experience in commercial leasing (for both landlords and tenants), property acquisition and disposition, and construction contracting. He represents the corporate real estate departments of several Fortune 100 companies in their national and international commercial real estate projects. His experience includes commercial office and medical buildings, and retail and industrial properties.
Joe is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also a board member for Connecticut-Westchester Chapter of CoreNet Global and he is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. He is also an active member of his community. He is on the real estate advisory board of the Community Renewal Team, a local anti-poverty group. Joe earned his J.D. from Cornell University and his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees, magna cum laude, from the University of Connecticut. Joe is admitted to practice in Connecticut.
