October 10, 2022

Continuing the growth of its Corporate practice, Wiggin and Dana LLP announced today that Peter J. Lahny, IV, a financing lawyer whose practice includes highly specialized secured transactions, joins the firm. Lahny is based in Wiggin and Dana’s New York office as a partner in its Finance and Lending practice group.

Lahny focuses on secured lending, including international commodities lending, asset-based finance, acquisition finance, accounts receivable finance, as well as financial restructuring. He represents U.S. and foreign banks and financial institutions in committed and uncommitted, secured and unsecured commercial financing transactions across the United States and abroad.

“Pete will play a leading role in our thriving borrower side practice, helping our real estate, M&A, emerging company, venture capital and healthcare clients meet their sophisticated financing requirements,” said Bill Perrone, chair of Wiggin and Dana’s Corporate Department. “His experience with the most complex and nuanced secured lending deals, from commodities finance to diamond and receivables deals, and his network of bank and agent relationships, broadens our offering and adds strategic lender-side capabilities.”

Among other matters, Lahny recently represented a foreign banking institution in a secured, bi-lateral loan transaction for an energy trading company; a leading bank in a secured, bi-lateral loan transaction for a biodiesel fuel trading company; and multiple administrative agents in secured, syndicated loan transactions for energy, sugar and steel manufacturing borrowers.

“With every meeting I took with my new colleagues at Wiggin, I became more convinced that the firm is a great fit,” said Lahny. “They are great lawyers doing outstanding work, but as importantly, they are great people. I am delighted to be joining Wiggin and look forward to supporting the firm’s growth.”

“We are very excited to have Peter join our ranks,” said Tim Diemand, Wiggin and Dana’s Managing Partner. “He immediately increases our group’s ability to serve our corporate clients in New York and nationally.”

Lahny was previously with Emmet, Marvin & Martin, LLP. He earned his J.D. and an LL.M. in bankruptcy law at St. John’s University, School of Law. He is the author of Theodore Eisenberg’s Debtor and Creditor Law, “Chapter 41 – Asset Securitization,” soon to be updated; and the article “Asset Securitization: A Discussion of Traditional Bankruptcy Attacks and an Analysis of the Next Potential Attack, Substantive Consolidation,” in American Bankruptcy Law Review.
