Associate

Christine is an Associate in Wiggin and Danaโ€™s Litigation Department and a member of the firmโ€™s International Trade Compliance, National Security, and White Collar Practice Groups.

Christineโ€™s practice includes conducting internal investigations, developing and enhancing compliance programs, and defending white-collar investigations and prosecutions, both federal and state. She has experience counseling clients on ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and FCPA regulations. Christine also represents clients during mergers and acquisitions, including performing pre-acquisition due diligence and advising on CFIUS matters. Prior to joining the firm, Christine was an associate at both national and international law firms and at one of the Big 4 professional service firms where her practice focused predominantly on international trade and national security matters.

Christine was a core member of the team defending a Turkish bank that was alleged to have laundered $20 billion on behalf of the government of Iran. She also represented a medical company accused of global FCPA violations in its internal investigation and negotiations with the DOJ and SEC, ultimately receiving a favorable settlement. While in private practice, Christine was seconded to a foreign defense contractor to develop its trade compliance program during an internal investigation and disclosure to DDTC.

Christine is a Certified Public Accountant โ€“ Certified in Financial Forensics, a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, and a Certified Fraud Examiner. Leveraging her forensic accounting background, Christine brings an in-depth understanding of the financial issues encountered in sanctions, money laundering, bribery and corruption, and fraud matters to her representation of clients.

Christine earned her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. She received her M.S. and B.S. in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University.

  • Represented a Scandinavian semiconductor company in CFIUS matters relating to its acquisition of a US-based semiconductor company, including negotiation and signing of a mitigation agreement.*
  • Represented an international medical company in parallel DOJ and SEC global investigations into alleged violations of the FCPA.*
  • Performed pre-acquisition due diligence and risk assessment of a Colombian agricultural entity prior to acquisition by a U.S. company.*
  • Conducted anti-bribery/anti-corruption and anti-fraud due diligence, risk assessment, and compliance program development for the UAE subsidiary of a U.S. company.*
  • Investigated and disclosed ongoing ITAR and EAR foreign national, technical data, and hardware violations to the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) and Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) for a Fortune 50 defense company.*
  • Seconded to a client during an ITAR Voluntary-Self-Disclosure to assist with remediation, including developing a compliance program, training employees, and providing advice on trade compliance questions.*
